Week 8 Predictions!

So we kind of mailed it in last week. I was in Toronto and Omid was drunk when we made the predictions. Somehow drunk Omid finished 7-5 and I did worse 6-6. Omid is ahead in the Game of the week standings with a 4-3 record. We are both above .500 on the year and we look to improve on our records this week. Although one of us will have a bad week as we had very different picks this week......

THE Santana Moss from THE U
1) Tampa +6.5 @ Minny

Adrian Peterson is Minnesota’s offense and their defense has been good as well thus far which is why they are 5-0 at home. Ponder has been throwing 2 int’s the past 3 games and had an embarrassing 58 yards passing last week vs Arizona. The Tampa Bay Bucs on the other hand have a great rushing defense but are dead last in passing defense. They were beaten by NWO last week in a shoot out of a game after being up 21-7 at half. Minnesota will win at home on Thursday night 27-20.

Minny is very good at taking the league through Adrian Peterson and then letting their defense run wild. Washington beat the Vikings by stacking the box and forcing Christian Ponder to throw. That is the way Tampa has to go if they want to beat the vikings. I think Vikings win at home and drop Tampa 24-14,

2) New England -7 @ St. Louis

Leave it up to the NFL to schedule the New England Patriots for a game in London. This should be a much closer game than the line indicates. The St Louis front 7 can get to Brady easily and it will be up to Ridley and Vereen to ease the pressure. New England would've lost last week if it were not for a drop by the Jets. The New England secondary is the worst in the league and Bradford should have a big day. However i still think  NE will pull it out in the end, 27-24.

The Patriots secondary might be better in another continent but i very much doubt that. They have been banged up and it has shown in the last 4 weeks as they allowed season high yard age totals to all 4 qbs they have faced and Sam Bradford is better than 3 of them. Also the Patriots offense hasn't been as deadly as we all assumed and that could be partially due to injuries to the TE’s and maybe playing good defenses. The Rams defense will get to Brady and make it a painful week for him. The issue is can St.Louis score enough points against the Patriots secondary to win the game. New England 24-17.

3) Indy +3.5 @ Tennessee

As an Indy fan I would like nothing more than the Colts to beat the piss out of the Titans. I hate the Titans. The Titans have won 2 in a row thanks to Chris Johnson and he is poised to have another big week like every RB that plays the colts soft run defense. The Colts are a horrible road team but they did play the bears and jets which have good defenses as oppose to the dead last Titans defense.  Andrew Luck has a great day and the colts have just enough on defense to pull out the shoot out. Indianapolis 31-27.

Tennessee have won two in a row since Chris Johnson found his 2009 form again, but Indy will be tough to beat. Andrew Luck will have a field day against a weak Tennessee defense. Both teams are not great, but this could be a very entertaining game. I am also calling a shootout win for Indy, 35-34.

4) Jacksonville +16! @ Green Bay

Jacksonville will be without their top QB and RB, and Aaron Rodgers is on fire. This shouldn't be a contest, but I think Jacksonville will keep it close. GB though still easily win it, 35-21.

Green Bay is heating up and this week will be nothing but target practice for the Packers offense. The defense of the Packers is suspect but the entire Jags offense is hurt so they won’t be tested. Green Bay 35-10.

5) San Diego -1 @ Cleveland

San Diego or Choke Artists or Panic Puppies i won’t keep going because i’m horrible at this but so was the Chargers performance 2 weeks ago at home vs the Denver Broncos. Up 24-0 and losing 35-24 is just ummm............San Diego Chargers mid season collapse like. They played an exceptional first half but were gifted 17 points from 2 botched punts and a picks 6 for 80 yards by Peyton Manning. The second half was just the total opposite, Peyton Manning was unbelievable and the Chargers not only had no answer for him they started to panic and turned the ball over 3 possessions in a row concluding with a pick 6 to lose the game. Lucky for the Chargers the Browns are horrible. The Browns lost to the Colts at home last week and if it wasn't for Trent Richardson no one would watch this team play, so no one is watching the Browns play as Richardson might be out. San Diego(I have no confidence in this pick..ughhhh the stupid Chargers) 27-24.

I believe I have picked the Browns to win in 3 weeks already this year, and I like their chances against San Diego. Philip Rivers seems to have completely lost the ability to dictate the game and seems to make 3-4 ill advised throws a game. Cleveland is a young team and have looked decent in the recent weeks. Losing a close one on the road against Indy last week. Josh Gordon is a star and he can be a superstar if he eliminates his drops. Brandon Weeden has quite good so far and I think Cleveland takes this one at home, 21-17.

GAME OF THE WEEK 6) Atlanta +1 @ Philly

This is going to be a great game, not great because these teams will execute perfectly. Great because they will find ways to make it entertaining. Both of these teams are experts at playing down to the level of their opponent and I think we will see some beautiful plays as well as horrible mistakes. Philly has never lost coming off the bye week under Andy Reid but I think this is the year the streak will be broken. Matt Ryan should have a fun day against an Eagles defense that hasn't sacked anyone in 4 weeks. Eagles will keep it close but in the end I predict a key Michael Vick turnover and a game winning FG as time expires, ATL 28-27. OH also Asante Samuels with a pick 6..

Do you like sloppy, hard nosed, and defensive games? If you do get ready for an absolute brawl in the city of brotherly love. The Eagles fired their defensive coordinator because it was easier than replacing TO machine Michael Vick. The offense has TO 2 games already this season and cannot afford to do that against the Falcons. They need to keep running the ball with McCoy and grip the ball like it’s their heart. The Falcons struggled 2 weeks ago vs the Raiders but squeaked out the win and are still unbeaten. Matty Ryan is still having a great season and the running attack is mean and gritty with Turner. The defense is good enough to keep them in games and shouldn't have too much trouble vs the Eagles offense. The Eagles are 13-0 after a bye week under Andy Reid and i’m saying they will be 14-0. Philadelphia 20-17.

7) Seattle +1 @ Detroit

Well Detroit finally showed up 2 weeks ago...well kind of.........ok not really but i couldn't think of anything else that was positive. They lost to the Bears last week in Monday Night Football and only scored 7 points and had too many turnovers to even give themselves a chance at winning the game. The offense has been average at best and most of the blame can be placed on Stafford. The defense has also been weak and cannot seem to be able to make a stop when it really needs to or make a big play in key situations. The Seahawks almost beat the 49ers last thursday and Russell Wilson had been getting better each week. He still needs to get the Int’s under control but that will come the more he plays and is allowed to do what he does best...keep plays going and make something out of nothing. The Seahawks defense is also very talented and will make it tough for anyone to beat them as the Patriots learned a couple weeks back. Seattle 24-21.

I can’t read this Detroit team, but I do know that Seattle is not good, especially away from home. I just don’t see this Seattle team stopping the Lions. As much as Stafford has struggled this year, they had every chance to beat the Bears on Monday night, but fumbled it all away in the Redzone, twice. I really see the Lions coming out hard and gaining the lead, forcing Russell Wilson to throw. That will be bad for Seattle, DET 28-14.

8) Miami +1 @ New York Jets

Here are two teams that most thought would be awful at the beginning of the year. Miami is 3-3 after some hard running by Reggie Bush and unexpectedly solid play from rookie Ryan Tannehill. The Jets, despite having an offense that seems as one dimensional as any college offense hung closely with both Houston and New England. If it were not for a terrible drop, the Jets would’ve beat the Pats last week. Mark Sanchez has not looked awful, in fact he looked like a decent NFL qb last week. I think the Jets take this one at home, in a sloppy game, with a rushing TD from Tebow, 17-14.

Ohhhhhhhh what a horrible game to watch. I really don’t think i care about either of these teams. One team gets no attention or respect while the other is talked about more than the Presidential debate. Miami 21-17, I refuse to believe and Tebow TD’s will stop the Dolphins from winning JACK.

9) Carolina +9 @ Chicago
Another game that's not worth anything. The Bears are a much better team and the game is at home. If Cam Newton decides to man up like we all know he can and play with the swagger and confidence he did last year this game will be interesting. Here’s to hoping Cam Newton wakes up from his slumber and comes out with a purpose. Chicago 21-14.

I have a strange feeling that Cam Newton is going to explode. He is due, but Chicago has a ridiculous defense. I’m kinda torn here, I have a nagging feeling that Carolina will pull it out. Car 24-17, I have no idea why.

10) Washington +4.5 @ Pitt

Oh very interesting game here...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm RG3 and the Redskins could win this game just because of how well they feel coming off last week’s game vs the Giants. The Steelers could be getting their two running backs back and have the 3rd best defense in the league. For in depth explanation see below. Pittsburgh 24-17.

I’ve always picked Washington to win, and I will not change my course. I also think that Washington will take an early lead and then CRUSH the Steelers. Yes crush, I can’t wait for this match up. Was 35-21.

11) Oakland +1 @ KC

LOL Brady Quinn. The Kansas City Chiefs are awful, Oak wins 24-17.

Whatever............................................ Kansas City is starting Brady Quinn, that’s how bad it has gotten in KC. Bet they are sorry they booed Cassell, if not they will be at about half-time of this game. Oakland has looked decent this year. Oakland 20-13.

12) Giants -1 @ Dallas

NFC East divisional matchup in Dallas, doesn’t get more exciting than that?? Yes it does because the Cowboys suck and the Giants are the best team in the NFL. The Giants escaped last week vs the Redskins thanks to a couple bad Redskins To’s and some clutch play from Eli but that’s the norm for the Giants offense.  New York 27-21.

I think the Giants are a tougher team on the road than at home. I have no idea why but that has been the case the past two years. After being beaten in the opening game, the Giants will be licking their chops to get at Tony Romo this week. Dallas has a good secondary, but they lost their most versatile player in Sean Lee for the year and neither lines are very good. NYG win an easy one in big D, 24-14.

13) New Orleans +6 @ Denver

Shootout of the Week. Brees and Manning, doesn't really get any better than this. Both teams are coming off big wins last time out and the QB’s look as good as ever. The advantage goes to the Broncos because the game is at home and their defence has more of a pulse than the Saints but that by a slight margin at best. No one is watching this game for the defense but the winner will be the offense that turns the ball over the least because it’s a possibility that both teams score on everyone of their possessions. Denver 35-27.

Shootout! Dink and dunk Peyton vs. the resurgent New Orleans Saints. The Saints are coming off two close wins and have the ability to put up 35 points on anyone. But their defense is just as likely to give up 40 points to anyone. This is prob gonna be the most entertaining game of the week, whoever have the ball last will win. Denver 38-35.

14) San Fran -6.5 @ Arizona

San Fran needs to win this game to get a tight grip on the division. Luckily for them the Cardinals are falling faster than the Austrian Felix dude who jumped from the edge of space. San Francisco 21-14.

Arizona is bad, John Skelton is awful. SF wins 24-10.
